The eagle that lived with chickens.

An eagle nest, high in the mountains, with four eggs inside was rocked one day by a high wind, causing one of the eggs to fall out, land on the ground and roll down to a stop in the middle of a chicken farm. The chickens looked at the egg and decided to look after it until it hatched, the way chickens do. Finally, a few days later, the egg shell cracked and a  beautiful eagle was born.

The chickens didn’t know any better and so they raised the eagle to be one of them. For his part, the eagle loved his home and family but it seemed his spirit cried out for more.

One day, the eagle looked to the skies above and noticed a group of mighty eagles soaring. “Oh how I wish I could soar like those birds,” the eagle cried.

The chickens roared with laughter. “You can’t do that. You’re a chicken and we don’t soar.”

From that day onwards, each time the eagle spoke of his dreams, he was told it couldn’t be done and so eventually, that was what he learned to believe. After time, the eagle stopped dreaming and continued to live his life as a chicken until he passed away, his potential completely unmet.

You become what you believe you are. If your dream is to become an eagle, follow your dream, not the words of the chickens around you.
